Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra
Creation & History
The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra (EYSO), formerly the Elgin Area Youth Orchestra, was founded in 1976 at the request of Margaret Hillis and was initially sponsored by the Elgin Symphony League. Its first conductor was Robert Hanson, Music Director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. The EYSO is an in-residence ensemble at the Elgin Community College (ECC) Arts Center and continues to enjoy the support of ECC.

Student musicians are 9-22 years old. Auditions are held each May for the following season. To find out more about auditions, visit the EYSO website or call (847) 841-7700.
