On the first Tuesday of the odd numbered months at 7:00 p.m., the police department hosts a meeting for Block Captains. The meetings are held in the North Community Room, or the Training Room.

Elgin's Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) is a not-for-profit organization boasting more than 70 members who support the department through volunteerism and fundraising. CPAAA members are department ambassadors for the police department. Upon successful completion of the Citizens Polic Academy, graduates may apply to become members of CPAAA.
The alumni group meets bimonthly for continuing education, which includes presentations from the FBI, Secret Service, the Illinois State Police along with various departmental units. For more information, contact Community Relations / Crime Prevention.

EPD is hosting an open house on January 16, 2019, for those who are interested in joining our Explorer Post 1445. The requirements are as follows:
Completed 8th grade
Good moral character
Good physical health
Must be able to attend mandatory weekly meetings on Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. at EPD.

All are invited to meet with Elgin officers at our Coffee with a Cop event. South Elgin PD will be joining us!
The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. This is achieved by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns, and getting to know the officers in your neighborhood.
